About Us

Brownstone Studios is a Film, Events and Theatre production company based in Bristol, UK, founded by Jamaican-British creative Shannon George. Since 2021, we have been dedicated to developing, celebrating and platforming the next wave of Black, Black British and Caribbean creatives across the screen and stage.

Our mission is clear: We Create. We Inspire. We Keep the Door Open.
Brownstone Studios exists to reimagine what’s possible in the film and theatre landscape. We centre Black stories, nurture underrepresented talent, and build experiences that leave lasting cultural impact.

From screenings and exhibitions to cultural events and theatre productions, we craft moments that bring communities together. Creating not only great work, but spaces where people feel seen, heard and celebrated.

What We’ve Done So Far:

• Produced a series of cultural events in Bristol spotlighting Black filmmakers and storytellers.

• Launched Bread Break in 2025, an intimate community event. Building real connections, career guidance, masterclasses, workshops and a good sit down meal. 

• Developed original theatre productions.

• Published our first Brownstone Studios Magazine in 2024, celebrating Black excellence in film, theatre and creativity. 

• Produced for and collaborated with creatives across the UK.

• Advocated for Caribbean storytelling within the British creative industries.

Our Vision

We are passionate about helping Black creatives thrive in Film and Theatre.
We believe in the power of cinema and performance to unite, heal and inspire.
We champion stories that speak truth, shift narratives and honour legacy.
We aim to bridge cultural gaps between the UK and the Caribbean, particularly through future international programmes, including a film festival in Jamaica.
